The member, representing Zango Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency, Mr. Amos Gwamna Magaji, has called on security agencies to redouble efforts in securing lives and property of the affected areas of insecurity in the country.
In a statement he personally issued and obtained by New Nigerian, the lawmaker expressed sadness over an attempted kidnapping incident on the Parish Priest of St. Raphael Catholic Church, Fadan Kamantan in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State by kidnappers on Thursday night.
According to him, “The kidnappers which invaded the premises with an attempt to kidnap Rev Fr. Emmanuel Okolo which proved abortive, resulting in setting the rectory ablaze, as a result, burnt to death a Seminarian, Brother Na’aman Ngofe Danladi who is at the verge of completing his training into the Catholic Priesthood.”
He added, “This is ungodly and inhuman, a sad moment, for a priest to die in such manner means that we are not all safe, drastic actions is needed by the Government and community leaders to end this ongoing carnage.”
The lawmaker extended condolences to the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, under Bishop Yakubu Kundi, Reverend Fr Emmanuel Okolo, the Catholic Priest of Kamantan parish, the deceased immediate family, the Kurama community and the Anghan Chiefdom.
